  • Private companies may obtain new work entry permits for their employees, provided that the employees apply for a residence visa within 30 days of entering the UAE.
  • It is also the employer’s responsibility to ensure that all travel arrangements for the new employee are made; this includes the ‘flight authorisation’ document that some airlines may require.

If your family members live outside the United Arab Emirates, the process begins with an application for an entry residence visa. Once your family has entered the country, a 30-day official period is granted to complete the residence stamp procedures.

There are specific income criteria that must be met in order to sponsor family members. The monthly income of the person sponsoring a spouse and children must be at least 4,000 AED (or 3,000 AED plus accommodation support).
For parental sponsorship, this threshold is set at 20,000 AED (or 19,000 AED plus a two-bedroom property).

The documents required during the application process are as follows:

An application form completed online
A payslip for public sector employees, or a certified employment contract for other employees
A bank statement covering the last 3 months for long-term residents, and the last 1 month for new residents, along with a bank letter confirming salary transfers
A certified tenancy agreement, Emirates ID and work/professional ID card
A marriage certificate certified by local authorities for marriages conducted in the UAE, or by the relevant authorities of the country where the marriage took place for marriages conducted abroad
Passports of the sponsor and family members (original + photocopy)
A medical examination report from an authorised healthcare provider for the spouse or children aged 15 and over
Three recent passport-sized photographs for each family member

To maintain the validity of their residence visas, family members must not remain outside the UAE for more than six months. Furthermore, under UAE legislation, even if a Muslim foreign national has more than one spouse, residence sponsorship may only be granted for one spouse.
